Now with iPadOS 16, which was released to the public in October, the company has introduced even more translation-related features to the iPad operating system. New languages are being added all the time, so check the list if you want a different language.With iPadOS 15, Apple added its Translate app to the iPad for the first time. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to choose options like Change Language or Copy Translation.Ĭurrently available languages include Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin-China mainland), Chinese (Mandarin-Taiwan), English (UK), English (US), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish. The translation will default to a language based on your phone’s language settings, or you may be prompted to choose a language. The first time you use this feature you will have to select Continue to consent to send the selected content to Apple. Select the over arrow to find the Translate option. This will automatically open the Live Text toolbar. Long press to highlight a word, then drag your finger to highlight all of the text you want to translate. This will appear in the lower-right corner when the Live Text feature recognizes available text in the image. Select to open the photo containing the text. Please note that this feature requires iOS 15 or later. These steps will use the Photos app, but the Live Text feature is identical in both. You can use Live Text in either the Camera app or the Photos app. ![]()
